Safamarine / A.P Moller – Maersk Group

From 1998 – 2010

Scope of work:

  • Supply and install 16 x (Lloyds approved) freestanding lubrication units for reefer compressors on board four container vessels complete with electrical upgrades. This was done over a period of three years.
  • Remove Deck machinery from four container vessels. This comprised of the following: NORWINCH mooring; anchor; windless and auto tension pumps and motors. Anchor brake and remote pumps. Remote valves and all hydraulic hoses. All components were removed, overhauled at Dosco, refitted and commissioned. This was done over a 6 month period in a way that the day to day business of the vessels were not jeopardized in any way.
  • The hydraulic relay units for the hydraulic stabilizers were removed, overhauled and refitted. Other hydraulic repair work was also carried out on the hydraulic stabilizers as the need arose. At times repairs were needed to be carried out at sea on the South African coast by our technicians.
  • Hydraulic technicians were transported up to Durban dry dock to attend to all four big whites (container vessels) when they came in for repairs. Repairs carried out varied from hydraulic to pneumatic. We spent an average of 2 weeks per vessel. Being the Norgren agents we received orders to replace more than four hundred pneumatic valves, four hundred manifolds and over one thousand fittings.
